I'm quite new to this distro, overall very positive up to now, better than any i've used before.
I've tried (with yaourt) to instal peazip (first of the six possible versions), but somehow it fails to load. don't know if the person who did build it made a small mistake or the mistake is on my side..

Can you install Peazip if you manually build it using makepkg?

that's the point, i've got an x86_64 system, _edited_ the PKGBUILD to arch=('x86_64') and i've got this error now here.
Offline
You didn't exactly mention that. Nor did you mention what changes you made to the PKGBUILD. That wouldn't normally be a problem but our psionics server is down for maintenance.

oh, ok my fault. so when should i try again (if this is the fact that caused the problem?)?
Offline
peazip is i686 only. All the PKGBUILDs I saw just copy binaries to the correect place, no compiling.
Offline
so i could take the standalone version from the website? or i'll take a look how the pkg build thing in arch works and compile it myself for 64bit? in suse 64bit it worked
Offline
Do so and we're willing to help you if you need any.
(There might be reasons, good reasons, why this hasn't been done already, but you're still welcome to try.)

I searched google for info (I never used peazip, and I thin I never will use...)
Peazip is writen in pascal and use Lazarus to compile it, so it need a GUI to be build (lazarus have a command line builder, but ppl dont know with this works with peazip).
Info on compiling peazip at http://peazip.sourceforge.net/peazip-more.html
You can try to use the lazarus command line builder (lazbuild) http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_Faq

I'm sitting with the same problem - trying to compile peazip for 86_64
I installed lazarus, downloaded the latest source and tried to do a build all. Unfortunately some assembler code block breaks and it complains about the usage of a a 16/32bit reference (edx). ![]()
And I'm sure it's going to break in a lot of places!
Any of you old-school hackers around wanna give it a bash ![]()
procedure Inc64(var Z: TW64; const X: TW64); assembler;
{-Inc a 64 bit integer}
asm
{$ifdef LoadArgs}
mov eax,[Z]
mov edx,[X]
{$endif}
mov ecx, [edx]
add [eax], ecx
mov ecx, [edx+4]
adc [eax+4],ecx
end;I'm sure this method would be deprecated in a 64bit environment anyway ![]()

I've downloaded latest peazip http://sourceforge.net/projects/peazip/ … p/download
then I've downloaded (according to http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php … dcdbf901f) the "Pure Pascal versions" of the problematic Ehrhardt's libraries http://home.netsurf.de/wolfgang.ehrhard … -07-25.zip and I've copied them in the peazip src directory.
I tried to compile peazip (you need lazarus installed because some "units" are needed,but you can compile with fpc):
fpc -B -MObjFPC -Sgi -O1 -gl -WG -vewnhi -l -Fu/home/xxx/scaricati/peazip-3.4.src/res/themes/crystalc -Fu/usr/lib/lazarus/components/synedit/units/x86_64-linux -Fu/usr/lib/lazarus/ideintf/units/x86_64-linux -Fu/usr/lib/lazarus/lcl/units/x86_64-linux -Fu/usr/lib/lazarus/lcl/units/x86_64-linux/gtk2 -Fu/usr/lib/lazarus/packager/units/x86_64-linux -Fu/home/xxx/scaricati/peazip-3.4.src/ -Fu. -opeazip -dLCL -dLCLgtk2 project_peach.lprfpc -B -MObjFPC -Scgi -O1 -gl -WG -vewnhi -l -Fu/usr/lib/lazarus/lcl/units/x86_64-linux -Fu/usr/lib/lazarus/lcl/units/x86_64-linux/gtk2 -Fu/usr/lib/lazarus/packager/units/x86_64-linux -Fu/home/xxx/scaricati/peazip-3.4.src/ -Fu. -opea -dLCL -dLCLgtk2 project_pea.lprbut the library tsc.pas is 32 bit only (it's not included in a "Pure pascal" flavour) so peazip couldn't be compiled.

663 lines compiled, 0.1 sec We need a 64 bit tsc.pas,I've found that http://www.mail-archive.com/fpc-devel@l … 17950.html it compiles ok,but doesn't work with peazip.
I think a pure 64 bit version is possible,the backends p7zip,quad/balz,upx,paq,unace etc should be already 64 bit native.
