is there anything that anyone can suggest for something I can code, command line preferably, so I can actually get some real programming learning done... I can do snippets and stuff... but it gets boring after a while... I need something challenging to learn c or c++... help!

Re: ideas....

Why C or C++? Code a Java backend for Ensmer... maybe an instant messenger or contact list.

Re: ideas....

and when you are finished with that Ensmer stuff you can make a cli frontend for libpypac, take a look in the "python festival" thread,
I just posted a new pkgbuild for it,

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

I currently have no interrest in learning Java
I've been toying around with C/C++ for quite sometime, I just need to work on so I can actually learn more than the basics

Challenging C++ Problems

A lot of them are not too difficult, but some will definitly make you cry.  Have fun.
