Yesterday the appearance of my fonts changed in Firefox and now they look like this:
http://omploader.org/vNGVwdA
It's like I'm missing some fonts or they are aliased. The fonts in other apps seem fine.
I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 and the lcd packages for fontconfig, cairo and libxft. Can someone help me to make them look like in Rox?

Yes, ttf-dejavu too. They had been installed before yesterday too.
EDIT: Another screenshot showing how the fonts look ugly in Firefox now:

M ake sure the box under Edit>Preferences>Content>Fonts & Colors ---> Advanced (box)> "Allow pages to choose their own fonts..."is UNchecked.
PLEASE read and try to FIX/FILE BUGS instead of assuming other have/will.

No changes.
EDIT: I had it checked before yesterday and the fonts were fine.

As the issue seems to be ONLY firefox and checking/unchecking that box has NO changes I wonder if you have a corrupt profile maybe?
Close ALL FF instances and create a new profile (firefox -ProfileManager in a terminal) and see if the issue remains.
Just a thought.

Creating a new profile was the last solution I tried, but it didn't work because the problem persists.
Here's my .fonts.conf but I don't see anythin wrong with it:
<?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">
<fontconfig>
<match target="font" >
<edit name="rgba" mode="assign">
<const>none</const>
</edit>
</match>
<match target="font" >
<edit name="hinting" mode="assign">
<bool>true</bool>
</edit>
</match>
<match target="font">
<edit name="autohint" mode="assign">
<bool>true</bool>
</edit>
</match>
<match target="font" >
<edit name="hintstyle" mode="assign">
<const>hintslight</const>
</edit>
</match>
<match target="font" >
<edit name="antialias" mode="assign">
<bool>true</bool>
</edit>
</match>
</fontconfig>
I think these settings are the default ones so using that file is redundant.

See the huge Gentoo font thread and read the posts therein.
There's several things to check and setup, so I'm not gonna repeat myself for the umpteenth time again. It's all in that thread.

I've tried everything, nothing changed so far. I guess it's time to change Firefox with a better browser.
