USB hub unable enumerate ports with mass storage devices (ohci-hcd)

The new kernel came with a strange behaviour of USB detection: All permanently attached USB devices (keyboard, mouse, printer, DVB-tuner) are recognised and mounted, but usb-sticks and mobile phones not. Some similar experience? What can block USB hub module to enumerate occasionally attached devices in plug-in mode? What about hal? My comp has 10 USB ports, four as board standard, next four as additional separately on the back with two of them plugging the two front ports. All went well before today -Syu (week-periodical upgrade).
