no sound problem (nforce sound)

hi there...

i did install the nforce driver as described in the wiki but it wont work...

after login in to gnome i get an "No volume control elements and/or devices found." error and no sound is present.

any ideas how to fix that?

does your user have access to the sound device nodes (in /dev/sound)? probably adding your user to the 'audio' group will make sure of this....(assuming udev or devfs config sets permissions like this, i believe the default setup will do so)

as root: usermod -G users,audio [username]

arch also recommends adding users to video,optical,floppy,scanner, and storage for basic user rights.
