I'm trying to use Thunar to mount some external harddrives, and here's the error I get as user:
Failed to mount "TB001V01".

Well, I think this happened to me recently. Try going into the terminal and entering this:
sudo nano /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf
This opens the hal file. Look for this:
<policy at_console="true">change the true to false, and it should work correctly.
What this does is allow you to mount the disk outside the console

It worked! Thank you very much! ![]()
Is there anything in that file I can change to get me to be able to unmount volumes as a user?
Thanks again!

Wish I knew that one. I also cannot unmount. I learned to live with it though. As long as I can mount, I'm happy
However you fix the unmounting, I didn't see a way in that file, so it must be done some other way...
