I have a Latitude D630 laptop with two hard drives. The main drive is 640GB and it is 100% dedicated to Arch Linux. I have a secondary hard drive in the modular bay that has Windows 7 on it, that I use for college for their proprietary BS. The thing is, if I have that modular bay hard drive inserted, Arch won't boot most of the time. It says something about a superblock and not being able to find an ext partition, and to press ctrl+d to continue. I do that, and one out of five times it will boot. If I remove the modular bay hard drive, it works 100% of the time.
Here is the fstab:
#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
none /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
#/dev/cdrom /media/cd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
#/dev/dvd /media/dvd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
#/dev/fd0 /media/fl auto user,noauto 0 0
/dev/sda1 /boot ext2 defaults 0 1
/dev/sda2 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sda3 / ext4 defaults 0 1
/dev/sda4 /home ext4 defaults 0 1
Note that I do not use my modular bay while running Arch and have no need to access it from within Arch. I keep it inserted so it's ready if I need to use it.
