Strange problem about extlinux

I have installed Debian in a USB stick just now. As my stick doesn't support Grub, I setup extlinux on my stick(The filesystem is ext3). But the question is when I reboot with the stick. Strange thing happened, extlinux couldn't find initrd.img. It give me such a message:

Loading vmlinuz............................................
Cannot find initrd.img.

I am sure the file names are correct but extlinux can only load vmlinuz. Why it doesn't recognise my initrd.img?

Re: Strange problem about extlinux

I suppose you have indicated with extlinux the path of the img right?

And normally grub does work on usb stick, you just have to boot on the stick with your Bios (if it allows it).

Re: Strange problem about extlinux

There's nothing with path. vmlinuz and initrd.img are under in the root directory. But extlinux just doesn't see initrd.img. So that's why I say it is strange.

If I setup Grub on my USB stick, it will just say "No operating system found."

Re: Strange problem about extlinux

did you set up the partition as boot partition? because if you have am pretty sure you have to create a boot folder and but everything in there....

In the meanwhile for the extlinux problem and the grub problems I have no idea
