Can't Install GUI

I've gotten to the point in the Archlinux installation guide where you install a GUI. But every time I enter in: xinit /usr/bin/startkde, the screen just goes black because it apparently doesn't support the resolution. If I could get any help I would appreciate it; it's pissing me off.

Re: Can't Install GUI

Did you run Xorg -configure after you installed the appropriate video card? BTW what video card and what driver are you using?

Re: Can't Install GUI

Isn't the command just startkde?
Did you install xf86-input-evdev and the right video driver?

Re: Can't Install GUI

@lagagnon: That's the file in which you uncomment the GUI you want, right? If so, I went there and uncommented KDE. I am using an integrated Intel card, and I'm using the vesa drivers.
@ demian: I tried that command, but it didn't find the command.
I can start Xterm and my mouse/ keyboard work fine. But then, when I exit Xterm, the same problem with trying to start KDE occurs: the screen goes black.

Re: Can't Install GUI

You say you can start xterm so I guess X works fine.

Re: Can't Install GUI

The command is exec startkde. Put it in your .xinitrc. Also, vesa is the generic video driver. The driver for Intel cards should support the resolution better. Remember to run Xorg -configure right after installing intel drivers.
