[SOLVED] Set Compiz as the default Window Manager.

I'm trying to figure out how to set the default Window Manager (or change it) in Gnome.

I wish it was a simple gconf change, but it doesn't seem so. roll

Also, the gnome-wm file is pretty confusing! Is that where you make the change?

Re: [SOLVED] Set Compiz as the default Window Manager.

I've found a solution here:
http://damumbl.byteholder.de/blog/?p=44

It loads compiz, but it sems to take 5 extra seconds longer to actually load the desktop... hmm

The "Startup Applications" method is faster!

Anyone know the proper way to do it efficiently without showing the fusion-icon in the notification area?

FOr somereason, once in compiz, my left sidebar no longer pops out from auto hide! sad

Any ideas?

Re: [SOLVED] Set Compiz as the default Window Manager.

Cool, works awesome!!

The compiz.desktop file *already exists* whereas the Compiz page tells you to create it. I'm going to edit the page so it is clear and help the Arch community . big_smile

The way that whole page is worded seems like you have to create everything from scratch and as though you have to do more than one command where infact you have to *choose* a command.

To those of you wondering, follow the new and improved instructions on the Compiz page:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Compiz
