Dark Arch Userstyle

Ive made a couple archlinux userstyles if anyones interested.

I tried to keep things as simple as I could, so people can easily change colors around by using a text editors global search/replace feature. smile

Each are meant as standalone styles so don't use both styles together.

Both styes were designed for use with the standard "ArchLinux" forum theme.

NOTE:
If you use a light colored gtk theme it will override the background colors of the buttons and scrollbars, there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about that, but you can add this bit of code to the end of the style (just before the last }) to make the text color of the buttons black. I dont want to add it to the styles officially because it would change it for all of us dark theme users as well.

input,
button,
select {
color: #000000 !important;
}

STYLE 1: Designed with arch colors in mind.

Before
tNGcyaw

After
tNGcxMA

STYLE 2: Designed with KISS and my console color scheme in mind, colors can be easily changed to match your own themes as described above so dont worry about that smile.

Before
tNHhzZg

After
tNHhzZw

Yeah, I like the layout, but I think tjwoosta's color choices would be right on.

Re: Dark Arch Userstyle

you just saved me some work on hrwa's dark styles.  this one goes really well with the new layout big_smile

i sitll migh mess around with the other one though, there were some color/layout issues i like from that one better, but this one is good for now.

the bugpage list shows orange for me though, and some button labels blend into the buttons. (submit button on the comment form for ex)

I just did another update and hit a bunch of stuff that Id missed before so I may have fixed the issues.

The bugpage is supposed to have the orange backgrounds, it ranges from orange-red to tan depending on severity of the bug.

If the button lables are still blending into the buttons after this update please post an image so I can see what your talking about.

EDIT:

OK, well I did update the style, but many of my changes arent taking effect on userstyles.org yet for some reason. I think the site is probably lagging a bit behind or something, so you might have to be patient

EDIT AGAIN:

It was firefox caching issue that I was having, tried with uzbl and it showed up first try. So if the userstyles.org site isnt showing the style as updated you probably just need to clear cache.

The latest update of the style includes a header that looks something like this (so you can tell if you have the latest version)
/****************************************/
/********* Archlinux Dark (tjW) *********/
/********* Created by: tjwoosta *********/
/****************************************/

Thanks, I love it! To be honest I didn't really like the new look of Arch Linux, but this style is a lot better and fits my darkish desktop better also...

Re: Dark Arch Userstyle

Ok guys, sry for continuously updating this every couple of hours but I kept finding small annoyances that needed tweaking. Anyway there really shouldn't be too much left to tweak around, so the updates will probably slow to a halt now. The style is basically finalized as far as I can see.

Anyway updates are very easy if your using firefox with stylish. You just right click the stylish icon and choose "manage styles" then choose "find updates" then click the button that says "update" on the individual style.

With this last update I fixed the misaligned borders when viewing threads, as well as added borders on the quote boxes so its easier to read quote pyramids.

Also the style now includes a Version number in the header, so people can easily see if they have the latest version,  which at the moment is Version 1.2. Enjoy smile

Re: Dark Arch Userstyle

I like this theme of you too.
I just have one problem.
In midori the css-styles are applied to all sites and until now I couldn't get it only applied to archlinux.org.
Does anyone of you have a solution?

Re: Dark Arch Userstyle

It seems that Midori supports wildcards in @-moz-document definition, so replacing @-moz-document domain('archlinux.org*') with @-moz-document url('*archlinux.org*') works.

Nice, I wasn't sure if userstyles worked in midori or not.

So now I know they work with Epiphany, Firefox, Iceweasel, Swift(weasel/fox), Icecat, Chromioum, Uzbl, and Midori.

One thing though is that depending on the browsers useragent certain pages can be rendered differently. For instance Uzbl uses webkit, and the colored (tip, help, note) boxes on the wiki use slightly different style code then mozilla uses. I do plan to fix those parts in Uzbl, but many browsers I simply havn't tested.

Re: Dark Arch Userstyle

I just finished making a second style and updated the first post smile

I designed it to be extremely simple and to match my console color scheme so it looks good in my tiling wm setup. No worries though all of the colors can easily be changed (including the background colors of of the few images that I replaced) to match your own themes with a text editor global search/replace feature wink.

My intention is to eventually create a collection of easily customizable KISS styles just like this for many different websites. I can then make a simple script to change the colors of all styles at once. This would allow quick and easy customization and uniformity between websites.

Re: Dark Arch Userstyle

looks good, i was using a similar style you created (with the yellow/orange instead of blue) before.  i have since switched to a zenburnish general color scheme which is set for all webpages (not just arch). it does break some pages but i can live with that.  it's all based on your styles though (along with another user, but i cant find his post), so many thanks! smile

Re: Dark Arch Userstyle

The dark userstyle now no longer works with https://bbs.archlinux.org since the form went to https. Checked the UserScript and it should capture that website address. Why would this be the case today?
