ALSA Nvidia HDMI Sound output problem

Hello!

I recently got the HDMI output to work on my HP laptop. Though now, the only problem is that if I'm using the hdmi sound output, I'm only allowed to play one thing at a time. I can't play a song with mplayer and another song with mplayer at the same time. On my laptop speakers, that works fine. But with HDMI sound output (if I'm already playing a sound), mplayer would error with:

[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: pcm_hw.c:1293:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open '/dev/snd/pcmC0D3p' failed (-16): Device or resource busy
[AO_ALSA] Playback open error: Device or resource busy

Same with vlc, xine, and everything else.
Is it just not possible to play more than one sound at one time on HDMI output, or is there something wrong with my setup?

Thank you!

EDIT: I'm on kde

Re: ALSA Nvidia HDMI Sound output problem

I think you can do that with Pulse audio. Give it a try it can't hurt.
