[SOLVED] Need help with colors for Midnight Commander

I have the colors setup for midnight commander. My problem is I can't seem to get them to
apply to its built in editor mcedit. I have tried editing the syntax.syntax file to no avail. I even
tried putting

MC_COLOR_TABLE="$MC_COLOR_TABLE:\
editnormal=lightgray,black:\
editbold=yellow,black:\
editmarked=black,cyan"

into the ini file. No luck. Can anyone solve this one? I was using mc-mp, but it was moved to AUR.
Why i don't know. I don't use aur, so thats not an option.
