KDE no menu items

Hi,
After upgrading from KDE 3.3 to 3.4, I had the known "kdeinit" error, but all menu items were available. To solve the issue, I upgraded qt. After that, the kdeinit message did no longer appear, but I have no more menu items in KDE.
I removed kde and qt according to the wiki, and deleted .kde from my home directory. Afterwards I reinstalled both but to no avail.
What did I do wrong?

Re: KDE no menu items

Update: it works as a normal user, but not as root. I deleted all in /tmp and my .xinitrc in both users are the same.

Re: KDE no menu items

The only thing I could add was to try deleting the items in /var/tmp too, also maybe look at ~/.qt and ~/.config.

The env variables may be set up differently for your root user?

Re: KDE no menu items

"rm -r /var/tmp/kdecache-root" did the trick. Thanks a lot!
