Hello pals. One of my big duels is "fight" with arch linux. I were a ubuntu/debian user, could you mind how, sometimes, I get angry,
Well. my issue
I use yaourt. Shaman shows me a little instable. But, some programs don't install. Appears one error, or just aborts.
In example....

Hey,
it looks like, you're missing the program "patch". So i guess, you haven't base-devel installed, which containes the basic programs you need to compile something (what yaourt does in this case). so a
pacman -S base-devel
should help.
Offline
knopwob beat me to it, in order to build anything from ABS or AUR you need to have some basic tools installed.
These tools belong to the base-devel group, install those packages and try again.

oh man!. I can't believe that my 2 weeks of try are resumed to one solution. Base-devel.
Oh no!!!!
let's see. ops. pacman -S say me to install
m4-1.4.14-1 autoconf-2.65-2 automake-1.11.1-1 bin86-0.16.17-4 bison-2.4.2-1 ed-1.4-2 fakeroot-1.14.4-2 flex-2.5.35-3 gcc-4.5.0-4 libtool-2.2.6b-3 make-3.81-5 patch-2.6.1-1 pkgconfig-0.23-2
it's normal?
and, another question. autoconf, bison, flex, I've installed. But I've did a pacman -Syu. Maybe it have uninstalled them?

and why I must answer this on every install process

It's common practice to check the PKGBUILD for malicious code or to modify it to change some parameters, like processor architecture, md5sums, and things to download. It's not a good idea to not check the PKGBUILD before installation.

hm. now it's ok. I've never seen on other distros i've tested. But, out mandriva, I've tested just ubuntu/debian based ones

Remember to mark the thread as [solved].

I haven't marked it yet 'cause it's not solved at all
Offline
What do you need to solve?
Offline
No one else has mentioned it, so I will -- yaourt is aging rapidly, and has been unmaintained for a while now. I've also seen it cause problems with large AUR builds (like my firefox-pgo).
I'd stay away, personally. There's a lot of other good AUR helpers (a wiki page exists for them), my favorite is the minimalist pbget.
Offline
You haven't seen this on other distros you've tested because they don't have the AUR or a nice simple way to create and build packages like ABS/PKGBUILDS. What debian/ubuntu based distros do have is a huge number of precompiled packages to draw from. With Arch, we don't.
I suggest learning to use the AUR without a helper like yaourt. You'll have a better understanding of building packages from source, meeting dependencies, understanding PKGBUILDS, and how to fix things when they go wrong.
Just my 2 cents.

yes dmartins. But, why does I am asking help, in this case? it's because if I start read "how does it works" for aur, I won't install nothing I need.
Because it, I ask for help to the "basics" things. I've 2 months of arch linux, with use in all time. And a lot of issues I've solved by google, but this, I haven't found answer.
=============
What I haven't solved. I restarted my system, cause d4x and karia2 haven't installed by the same issue.
Now i'll try again

I understand it can all be a bit overwhelming.. Arch requires a bit more work than other distros but once you learn your way around it really is quite simple in it's design. You'll get there!
Please post the output from when you try to install these apps. Hopefully there is an error message that will guide us in the right direction

ok. After reboot, my programs were installed at all. Thanks guys.
Thanks very much

I do have to say, I second dmartins's suggestion
It's very simple to build AUR packages manually, and you'll save yourself a lot of trouble in the future. But do as you like of course.

yaourt is still maintained, it can have some issues like any other software, but if developers is not aware about it, they cannot solve it. I did see no report about some problems with large builds and firefox-pgo builds well!
