OSS, speaker and headphone output

Hello, I have a bit of a dilemma with using OSS. My hardware for some reason doesn't mute my laptop speakers when headphones are plugged in, and so I have audio coming out from both my headphones and speakers. No BIOS option that relates to this either. I can change headphones for "mix2" to "mix3" so that I can mute the speakers while retaining output in my headphones, but that presents a very manual solution.

I was hoping if anyone knows of a way to achieve this through OSS, to only have the speakers unmuted when the headphone jack is vacant. I was thinking that if there was some way to trigger a script when plugging in/taking out the headphones then it would be doable through ossmix (switch channels, mute the appropriate one). If there isn't then I might just make two shell functions to do it for me. I suppose.

Any help?

Addendum: laptop is an Acer Aspire One 532h
