openssl update

Ok, just attempted an update and got told I couldn't...

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: libarchive: requires openssl>=1.0.0
:: libfetch: requires openssl>=1.0.0

Which, I've seen that kind of error before, but the version numbers made me curious this time...

Latest (not-upgradable): Version        : 1.0.0a-1
vs.
Installed: Version        : 1.0.0-2

I just wanted to know if this was a legitimate error I was looking at or if the upgrade was safe; before I try something and break my machine (un-neededly)

Thanks.

Re: openssl update

Hi,
I can't upgrade my system, too. Is there any workaround for that issue?

Re: openssl update

There is a new package in the repos.   Until your mirror syncs "pacman -Syu --ignore openssl" should be fine.

Re: openssl update

Seriously, if you use testing you should know how to handle it. This includes reading our arch-dev-public mailing list.

Re: openssl update

Pierre, I do watch the list smile  and it updated fine a notable while later.   I did try switching mirrors before I came here, so yes, I know how to handle it.  It was the version naming scheme that I didn't understand.

Re: openssl update

Ok fine. The problem is that the upstream version 1.0.0a is newer than 1.0.0 but pacman treats it the other way round. See vercmp.

You're right, I will subscribe it.
