Can someone recommend an application that is useful for stress testing GPUs? I need something like prime95 or linpack for GPUs that runs under Linux.

I'd recommend FurMark through wine. It stresses the hell out of the GPU, don't know if it'd suit your purposes, though.

"mprime", which is prime95, is available in our AUR. Use "clyde" or "yaourt" to install it easily.

Thanks for the replies all. Stress doesn't seem to do GPU at all. I like the idea of Furmark but I don't wanna install Wine on this machine. I was hoping for a Linux native app...?

GPU not CPU... at least I got two out of three letters correct. Sorry about that.

If you have a quite powerful GPU and use propritary driver you could try the heaven benchmark:

Beside this any 3D game with demanding graphic requirements is good enough to stress the GPU. Simply max out all settings and use the highest resolution that you monitor supports. Furmark is quite different though since I was developed to mainly heat up the GPU.
