Re: Why people work for free ..

It amuses me when economists see that money is not the most important thing in the universe (for everybody at least).

These things scare me, though. I fear all these research will find a way to monetize good will and cooperation so that economists can use it to continue slaving us.

Agreed. It helps me focus on the talk _because_ I'm distracted by the drawing. I have trouble concentrating on things like audiobooks or talks if I don't have slides or anything else to look at.

Edit: fixed typo

In a talk at Stanford University, Marissa Mayer, Google's Vice President of Search Products and User Experience, stated that her analysis showed that 50% of the new product launches originated from the 20% time.[149]

Yes! These are the principles we should build the world on.

I need a sorted list of all random numbers, so that I can retrieve a suitable one later with a binary search instead of having to iterate through the generation process every time.

Awesome video.

I love things like this that just makes some intuitive sense. Like you've known it all along, but never really realized it.

Re: Why people work for free ..

As I look inward I see how this effects my sense of direction.  I remember in school and later in my jobs, my productivity almost always hinged on how much I like the teacher or boss.  Work/school for me has always fluctuated on how these influences gave me incentive.  This is great, thanks for sharing.
