When I use mplayer to play a video that has audio, mplayer pauses ( as if I had tapped the space bar to pause it ) a few seconds after sarting. After that, if I tap twice the space bar, the video may play for a while and then freeze again.
If I'm using pulseaudio as output, i get these messages:
[AO_ALSA] pcm pause error: File descriptor in bad state
[AO_ALSA] pcm resume error: File descriptor in bad state
While using pasuspender with -ao alsa, the messages above don't appear, but the behavior is the same.
However, if I use -ao oss, video and audio play flawlessly.
Any clues on that?
Thanks!

Has the same problem with ALSA, when using output driver alsa. If use "alsa 0.6 HDA Intel" (i've got i965 chipset with builtin audio) there are no freezes.
Will appreciate for any help

I had the same problem when using PulseAudio and running mplayer with Alsa output. To fix it, I built mplayer with --enable-pulse and use that as my output audio driver.
