default terminal directory

Whenever I open up a terminal from any shortcut it puts me /etc/X11 and I want to know how to change this so it will open up in my home directory.

Thanks

Re: default terminal directory

for gnome-terminal, I use this.

gnome-terminal --working-directory=/home/user &

this allows me to use the nautilus script "open-terminal-here" from a right click on a dir..

Re: default terminal directory

it's probably because you ran "startx" from /etc/X11

exit X and do "cd ~" then "startx"
