A forgotten firmware in the new release?

I had trouble setting up my wireless, but I managed to find out something based on this users post:

When trying 2.6.34 I was missing the firmware file.
It should be in /lib/firmware/rt2860.bin

If it is not you need to download the driver from ralinktech, extract this file and put it there.
You get it here:
http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=2

"Firmware RT28XX/RT30XX PCI/mPCI/PCIe/CardBus series (RT2760/RT2790/RT2860/RT2890/RT3060/RT3062/RT3562/RT2860/RT2760/RT2890/RT2790/RT3090)"

Is it just me, or should this wireless firmware be packaged with Arch? I had a heck of a time figuring out what was wrong, anyway I hope I can set the rest of this wireless up without a hitch. I just wanted to bring this to someones attention if it wasn't. If this is a 'silly' topic then by all means delete it.

Thanks

pacman -S linux-firmware

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: A forgotten firmware in the new release?

For future reference, pkgfile from pkgtools is a very good way to find out if something is available in Arch. It can take a bit time when run:

~ > pkgfile rt2860.bin
testing/linux-firmware
