install cd variables

Hello,

I started a thread in "Installation" which met with no success. So please allow me to pose a different question:
From the install cd at its prompt, which options can I specify? I have looked for documentation but have found none.
Mostly I am interested to know the format for telling arch to load modules.

Thanks in advance!

Re: install cd variables

Do you have a specific need for this to be done via the prompt?
During the installation you can edit rc.conf and add to the MODULES list.

The Arch wiki has more details (AIF)

this has to be accomplished at boot time because my CF card is not detected by the vanilla setup of the live cd.

Thanks.

Re: install cd variables

You probably need a specific kernel module to get your CF card recognized.

the install CD runs a normal kernel, and has 4 virtual terminals.

For an example how these things work :

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

If i modprobe the correct modules for the CF card (IDE Device) will it show up as /dev/hdxx (etc)
I didnt know that you could do that with IDE devices I assumed it needed to load at boot time.

Cheers.

yes, it will show up as dev/hdxx . depending on the filesystem on the CF (like NTFS) you may have to add modules for that also.

Very few things are really needed at boot time, almost all modules can be added later.
(it's just easier if they are loaded at boot time).
