what games do you usually run?
If using WineX, please include version and PC specs (cpu, memory and video card are enough)

RTCW: Enemy Territory is the most addictive game I've ever played.
Don't forget to post your PKGBUILD in your thread when you announce a new package in incoming.

Lately I have been messing around with this game that is very Tribes/Tribes2 like, it is pretty stable and fun. I am going to update it tonight when I get home because I think they just added vechicles support, they are constantly adding new maps and features to it. It's called Legends, http://hosted.tribalwar.com/legends/ .
Other than that, I play a bit of RTCW, Neverwinter Nights, Tribes 2, UT2003, Pingus, and Quake 3.

Liquidwar, nethack, that marble madness-esque game (can't remember the name), package maintenance... oh wait... that's not a game...

I am a big supporter of commercial linux games. The ones I have and am currently testing and running on Arch are:
Never Winter Nights
Tribes 2
Savage: The Battle for Newearth
Soldier of Fortune
Civilization: CTP
Myth 2: SoulBlighter
Terminus
Sin
Quake 3
Descnet 3
Railroad Tycoon 2
Tribes 2
Shogo
Dominions
Uplink
Unreal Tournament 2003
Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns

These are the linux native games I own, plus I have (don't hurt me) "WineX" for Morrowind and WarCraft 3.
I have not tested them all on Arch linux as of yet, but I am slowly getting there.
My machine specs are:
Asus GFFX 5800
AMD 2500+@2400mhz (with 200fsb)
Abit Nforce2 (using the NIC)

Alright, thats a nice list.
If you get to try C&C Generals, let me know...
EVERYONE!!! please specify your machine specs when using WINE/WineX
I think it will make others to realise if they actually can make use of it.

Max Payne
Ignition
Incredible machine 3
With scummvm:
Monkey island 1 & 2
And some c64-games with vice.
I've been looking for Jagged Alliance 2 for linux but haven't found it yet.
Think it's all sold out in Finland.
Also if I could get civilization 3 to work with winex that would be the only game I'd play...

I'm really only good at a couple of games so I don't play much.

Half-Life (pre-Steam)

I myself have started playing this game, eternal lands, off and on. They just released the client under GPL. Does anyone else play this online rpg? It isn't as good graphics as planeshift, but it has a combat engine and such.

I've never been much of a gamer, but I distinctly remember playing this game too. A couple weeks ago i went and looked for old games like this, and TIM was one of the ones i found. I don't remember where I got it, but I'll put it up here for a day or two so you can grab it (it's abandonware): http://atrum.com/tim/.
Oh and I came across Legends (mentioned previously) in a slashdot post the other day and the game is gorgeous. I've never played either Tribes game, so I'm still getting used to the controls, but it's fun. Have been looking into contributing to the project. Just too bad they can't release all the sources for it (it uses the Torque engine).
As for the games I play, the ones I have played have been native to Linux, like Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 and RTCW. Speaking of which, I guess i should try out ET since everyone is raving about it. Now where's that damn CD...

Free as in standalone, does not require RTCW ?
Offline
yep, free, standalone.
pretty nice too..
but does it seem kind of laggy to anyone, compared to counter-strike?... but maybe that's just my system.
oh yeah -- has anybody figured out a way to switch to another desktop or minimize enemy territory in case you need to check your icq or whatever?
Hapy.

ET isn't very laggy for me... depends on server and connections, but you probalby need to reduce the graphic details... q3-engine seems to lag, when graphics details were to high chosen.
I couldn't find a way to minimize it. same for q3

found some net tweaking resources to help me out (not at my machine so don't remember where it was).... much smoother now. I can run at 800x600 at good framerates for the most part now. (geforce 4 mx440 & athlon xp 1.5 GHz) settings turned down for lots of stuff.. might start playing with them and turning them up again tho.
