In order for anyone to help you will need to provide some details:
- Is this a new install? Where are you up to?
- Are you following the Beginners Guide?
- Which application(s) are affected?
- What are you doing when you get the error?
- Are there any logs you can show us?
- What have you done to try to fix it?

This is new installation, the beginners guide is more confusing than it is of any use, in short it is tantamount to farrago of nonsense, most people that use Linux connect to Internet via the ADSL router, the DHCP, rather than installing the Modem directly as not many manufacture provide anything for Linux, who ever wrote the procedure most likely was not native English speaker, most likely some German type. There is no coherent approach, one ask to click a link that link has to be clicked to another link etc. Most of the Info need for the IP , comes from the Linux command ifconfig, which is hardly mentioned. If it is made easy to connect to Internet after minimal installation, one can Install the Desktop Environment , and start configuring using the graphical Interface.

Breathe, man!
subj: look at /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and choose one you want (and look https://www.archlinux.de/?page=MirrorStatus for mirror statuses)

kujirasan - awesome post, best laugh I've had in ages.
Try the official install guide - it might suit you better.
I'm now closing this thread. If you have additional questions, start a new thread, with a new attitude.

If you think it is full of nonsense, then how come you have problems? Shouldn't you be able to pull it off all by yourself?
I think 99% of the people who use it are very happy with it. If you spot any weaknesses, feel free to fix them.

That sounds derogatory. You're not saying non-native English speakers are lesser netizens, are you?
I suggest we only allow Oxford English speakers to put documentation together. But wait... That will cut our wiki's content in half... Hrmm... No! It wil decimate it. We're lucky if we keep 5% of what we have now, even.

Again: feel free to amend the documentation.
