Initializing XFCE

Hello guys, I ve followed the wiki to install Xfce and to start it manually, but it didnt work, so I had to install Gdm in order to intialize Xfce and I have to log all the time. I wanted to know if there was a way that Xfce would load automatically, without having to log in, since I only have one account and I dont need the gdm screen.
I followd these steps and didnt work:

Manually
If you have not created a ~/.xinitrc yet, do so with:
$ cp /etc/skel/.xinitrc ~/.xinitrc
and add the following line:
exec ck-launch-session startxfce4

Thanks in advance.

Re: Initializing XFCE

Do the .xinitrc edits, remove GDM, install slim, and do this:
