HDD temperature

Hi. A couple of days ago, my laptop was overheating. So I opened it all up, cleaned it an all, and now the temperature is reasonable.
Only thing now, is that my hdd feels really hot.

# hddtemp /dev/sda
/dev/sda: WDC WD3200BEVT-22ZCT0: 55°C

So I was wondering, is this normal? Should I be concerned? What can I do to take some temperature off?

So, WTF are you talking 'bout, Willis? Reasonable, or hot? Eh? Define "reasonable", and how you are measuring it.

For bonus points, define "hot".

I think the OP asked a reasonable question, although he could have googled it. And I think your response is not really appropriate.

The difference between me and you, is that I've seen *thousands* of these "could have been answered themselves, if they weren't so damned lazy" questions. Yeah, I'm, not kidding. THOUSANDS.

Too hot.  Where in the case is the hdd physically located and is it ventilated in any way?  What kind of case is it and how many devices are packed in there?  Finally, what is room temp?

$ hddtemp /dev/sda
/dev/sda: ST31000528AS: 29°C

Some WD hdds run in the high 30s but over 50 in my book is dangerous.

It doesn't have its own fan. It's just one hdd.

Room temp is from 20C to 25C. Now it's always going around 55C-56C .
The manufacturers site says that max temp is 60C.
I rechecked the connectors on the MBO, it's all in place.
ATM I'm not running much processes, and I really don't know why the hdd it's getting so hot.
Btw, the laptop is acer aspire 5738.

The 250GB 2"5 Western Digital HD in my Asus A6G laptop spins at 46° (with almost no disk access). I raised the height of the back of my laptop in order to increase air flow underneath; not sure if that's effective though.

Edit: room temp is 20°C.
