I have a bad bug in GNOME 2.30 - keyboard shortcuts aren't 100% reliable, like "Delete" key doesn't always delete files, "Ctrl+C" shortcuts doesn't always copy files, and so on. It's mostly reproducable when selecting items with the mouse or moving mouse while pressing the keys. I think it's somehow related to these old bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/538982 and https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137455. I have exacly same behaviour as in these bug reports. I had this bug in GNOME 2.28 and still have it in GNOME 2.30

I have exactly the same bug and it is probably the most annoying bug I have ever had with GNOME. Obviously, this is also very old since the first report is six years old. Hopefully it will get fixed for 3.0.
There is also this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/465284 and this https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=517639 which, in addition to the links you posted, are essentially describing the very same problem.

I can confirm these bugs, one of the reasons I switched to KDE finally, as I'm using shortcuts very heavily and hate to do everything several times.

I have same bug also in Ubuntu 10.04

I am also affected by this bug.
Very often I have to press F2-Key twice to rename a file...

I've uploaded a quickfix: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=38241. A pretty dirty hack from here, but it works!

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
