sync Problem

Hi, I have bought a brand new AMD 6 cores with a Asus CrossHire IV mainboard. It works fine but when I unmount a USB removable it hangs, it also happens when I sync after copy something to the USB
The copy command finishes very quick after copy some file and if I execute this I can see how there is some I/O operations in process:

$ watch cat /proc/diskstats

Do you thing is it a dodgy mainboard? How can I debug this problem? I am running Arch x86_64
