I just upgraded to xorg-server 1.8 and my nvidia drivers seized to work - yes I read the frontpage and the nv drivers still work - but - who can point me to the right direction for a downgrade of xorg-server. Thanks in advance.

You need to downgrade A LOT of packages. Mesa, dri2-proto, xf86-input-* packages are the first ones I can think of.

Doesn't the ignoreABI xorg flag fix things? It works here...

Where do I add ignoreABI?

Go to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Add
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "IgnoreABI"
EndSectionOffline
very cool - that fixed it indeed - thank you guys ![]()

I have this same problem, but this doesnt solve the problem for me compleately because 3D applications such as blender wont run, failing with Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GLXCreateContext)
So I'm still interested in how to downgrade xord-server, downgrading using the instructions gives dependenc. issues with xf86-evdev and fails.
