Synaptics error with Xorg 1.8

Hi,
I get this in Xorg log:

$> cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -i synaptic
[ 1744.311] (II) LoadModule: "synaptics"
[ 1744.311] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so
[ 1744.312] (II) Module synaptics: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[ 1744.312] (II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 1.2.2
[ 1744.417] (II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 1.2.2
[ 1745.393] AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint no synaptics event device found
[ 1745.440] Query no Synaptics: 6003C8
[ 1745.440] (EE) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
[ 1745.473] (II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"

Even though, the touchpad somewhat works. It doesn't work as good as before though (ie cursor speed settings won't apply, SHMConfig doesn't work, ...)
Any ideas?

Re: Synaptics error with Xorg 1.8

I have made a thread for this in another forum; it hasn't currently come up with a solution though.

As for configuration, you ought to be able to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf. The ArchWiki has some updated information regarding Xorg 1.8 in that respect.
