Graphics problem

I have a problem where a lot of openGL programs crash on startup.
I get the error message:
brw_misc_state.c:290: emit_depthbuffer: Assertion `region->tiling != 1' failed.

from most OpenGL programs (including glxgears) but not from openGL compositing on KDE.

I think it has something to do with one of the intel graphics packages (that's where the file is). I have an intel GM965 card.
