[Solved] Mpd after pacman -Syu "Connection refused"

MPD fails to start at boot, won't start afterwards either (tried normal and sudo).  My config files still read the same and all that...what could the upgrade have changed?  (mpd.error and mpd.log are also unhelpful)

alright, I rebooted and scroll locked the messages, and it pointed me toward "unknown hardware Thinkpad EC"

ran alsactl store, so I'm going to reboot now and try it

I'm having problems with MPD too. The daemon starts fine and the client can connect and load playlists from the library, but I simply cannot play anything.

Have you tried running mpd --verbose --no-daemon as root?

Doing that (or any version of "mpd --verbose") returns

mpd: error while loading shared libraries: libx264.so.84: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Current x264 version is 20100607-1. Probably your mirror is out of sync. Try using mir.archlinux.fr for example.

Re: [Solved] Mpd after pacman -Syu "Connection refused"

updated my mirrors and reinstalled to no avail, BUT!!!

I found this thread:    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=769009

This guy had trouble with x264 and it was related to ffmpeg, which I decided to pacman -Su just for fun.  Music is back!

Thanks for your help guys.  You led me there!
