monitor freezes after grub starts

Hi,

I'm with the following problem: when I start my computer, in a few seconds after I choose Arch Linux at the grub menu my monitor shows a lot of garbage that does not allow me to see what is going on with my computer.  So I don't even get the command line after I start my computer sad

It's not a problem with my monitor because I can use the arch installation CD to get to the command line.

I tried to use the second option from the grub menu, arch linux fallback, but I had the exactly same problem.

I have no clue of how I can even start trying to solve this problem. The only thing that I could think of was to use the installation CD, mount /var/ and get the messages.log file. The file can be downloaded from:

Do you have any idea of how I can solve this problem?

I went to look at your log but I have no patience so couldn't wait the minute to start the download from megauploads. You might want to figure out an easier way for us to see your log.

Sorry... it didn't come to me that downloading from megaupload would be such a hassle. Thanks George.Harmony for letting me know.

Hi all,

now I get to the command line when I don't allow udev to autoload the modules (i.e. MOD_AUTOLOAD="no" in my rc.conf). So it seems that my monitor was freezing bc of one the modules that udev was automatically loading.

Do you know how I can find out which module was causing this problem (so that I can backlist it and return using MOD_AUTOLOAD=yes)?

What exactly do you mean by "freezing"? In case your monitor just turns black, try disabling KMS (Kernel Mode Setting).
