upgraded to Xorg 1.8, gnome icons look terrible

I just upgraded xorg, restarted and now my icons are very ugly, I think they are aliased. Is there an option or something that enables the proper rendering of these icons? I've searched around and haven't found anything.

No special rendering-related packages, nothing weird. The icons just look aliased. It's hard to explain, here's a screenshot:

I'm using the intel driver. I updated a lot of stuff today so if you want I can post my pacman log.

Actually I think it might be gtk, because Qt apps look fine.
