Where do the groups in the repos live?

I am creating a mirror for a weird CPU and I'm rebuilding all of the base packages (scripting made this a snap). But where do our groups live? How do they work? I would like to be able to pacman -S base from my repo too!

There is no special file/directory structure needed for groups, as long as you include the appropriate groups in the PKGBUILD, pacman et al. will handle the rest.
