After removing radeon_ucode then update to linux-firmware (I use xf86-video-ati). My screen started to have tiny raining effect(but horizontally) on screen. I have compiz fusion icon and kernel radeon.modeset=1. Please help, is this a bug in the new linux-firmware ? Thanks

nobody experience this ?
splash(kernel-2.6.34-2 i686) also not working during boot.
the tiny horizontal raining on the screen will appear right after grub changes the resolution.
same thing when remove "radeon.modeset=1" from the kernel.
when change to "radeon.modeset=0" no more raining effect but it's unuseable.
any idea please.

I also have tiny green dots on my screen like specs of dust after the update. They increase when there's movement on the screen, decrease when there's none. I'm using ati radeon HD4870 with the xf-86-video-ati driver. There are no other problems.

After today's xf86-video-ati update problem still persist. Sometimes gnome applet(hardware sensors monitor) will have artifact but after starting compiz fusion icon it'll be normal again. But the main problem is still this "bluish horizontal raining effect".
Please help solve this eye straining "effect".

I also use xf86-video-ati, modeset=1, 2.6.34-1, latest firmware on 2 PCs but with HD3200 / HD5750 chips and so far it works fine.

Downgrade to previous firmware to confirm that is causing the problem and make a bug report if so.

I also have another machine with ati mobility 9700 working without any problem after the update, just this HD3470 showing the "raining effect".
I didn't use LVM and issued pacman -Scc sometime back after updates so roll back could be a major challenge for me. I ran fedora/ubuntu live CDs on this machine, no "special effect" observed from either of them. I try to use screenshots to capture the "effect" but the image file shows up normal.
I also notice a difference before and after the update is that when i try to move the cursor or press a key while screensaver started to dim, this wouldn't bring the screen out of screensaver mode; it'll have to wait till the screen is completely black(but backlight is still on).

Try the Arch Rollback Machine: http://arm.kh.nu/search/

Update!
With the recent full system update the "raining effect" is gone(no hardware change before or after).
