Hi,
Open Office on my machine often crashes when saving. It just hangs and is not responsive. I tried using Open Office 3.2.1-1 and GO Open Office 3.2.1.3-1. First I thought the GO version fixed it, but at some point, that too crashed.
My system is:
Linux melk 2.6.34-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Jun 19 00:07:49 CEST 2010 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
All packages are up-to-date (pacman -Su shows nothing). I would give version numbers of libs and such, but there aren't clearly defined programs/libs it depends on, so I wouldn't know where to start...
Anybody got an idea what's wrong?

I experienced the same thing recently and eventually had it go away by copying content from old(ish) OOo calc files into files created by the latest OOo version. This is not the first time OOo behaves like this on my system - seems OOo is not very tolerant of its own earlier document formatting versions. Your problem may be different, but you could try this approach.
Edit: I have just experienced the same problem again, with a new file, so my tip above is probably worthless. I am starting to become a bit exasperated by all the problems caused by the recent upgrades...

When Googling, I found people having this problems years back, but not really a solution. Is there really nobody who knows what causes it? I can't use it all like this.

If you are saving to an NFS location then the same thing happened to me too.
Explanation and resolution can be found here. http://pts.szit.bme.hu/solution_to_open … cking.html
