Install 2010-05 arch x86_64 to CF card 16GB

Successfully installed full archlinux 2010-05.iso into 16GB CF card.

Install includes full kde4, vlc, gparted, firefox and a raid array access to other CF cards.

The CF card is in an adapter...sata to CF.. and runs on 5volt floppy-type connector.

The system boots to kde4 desktop in ~19 seconds.  Reboot time to shut down is somewhat slow..45 secs.

System setup uses 16GB CF card adata speedy 533x with an hdparm time of 62mb/s.

The install includes a 256MB swap partition which I may remove.

System installed is x86_64 with latest 32 kernel.

There are four partitions provided.  With kde4 installed, 3.8GB of free space is available in root partition of a max of 7GB.

Performance is lively so far.  Will trim kde packages to reduce root size.

Pacman 4. is installed as well.

As usual, I am running as root, a tacit no-no!!

An experiment in progress................

Swap partition on a CF doesn't sound good but I'm out of the loop w/ the current state of things + you may never actually need it so it won't hurt you.

I think you mean 3.4.
