Hi everybody,
it looks like I am having the same problem as this guy.
I got an alix3d3 and lately, the kernel was not able to boot up:

There is no error message, nothing looks wrong. I reinstalled the whole system on a new Compact Flash, so this is a brand new installation, so cannot "downgrade" the packages.
Thanks for the help,

so cannot "downgrade" the packages.
Why not?

Indeed, I can, I downgraded to kernel-2.6.32 after my post, but same crap

Same error, same kernel ... installed onto a CF as originator...
Any ideas?

Sincerely, I don't know. I did not investigate further more and the message is not very verbose. I guess there is a problem with finding the init, so the source might be it is unable to correctly mount the partition for some reason

This is totaly f. up. I'm not able to downgrade to due to dependencies. Donwngrading kernel only doesn't work. It's mkinit-vusybox related I'm sure.

Ok, I've downgraded to kernel I know works: 2.6.32.3-1 . I've also downgraded to following packages:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 29956234 Jan 8 14:20 kernel26-2.6.32.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1069097 Jan 8 14:20 kernel26-firmware-2.6.32.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5249769 Jan 8 14:20 kernel26-headers-2.6.32.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2938227 Jun 19 2009 klibc-1.5.15-3-i686.pkg.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11546 Jun 19 2009 klibc-extras-2.5-4-i686.pkg.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 43580 Jun 19 2009 klibc-kbd-1.15.20080312-10-i686.pkg.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 40311 Jun 19 2009 klibc-module-init-tools-3.8-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 107244 Jun 19 2009 klibc-udev-141-3-i686.pkg.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 16067 Aug 5 2009 mkinitcpio-0.5.26-1-any.pkg.tar.gz
Some of them needed to be forced installed.
Still nothing. Where does a problem arise? This is unacceptable.

I didn't look up your processor, but maybe these apply?

@schuay: for me, it has nothing to do with avrtools.
@tiny: Even downgrading didn't work ? You got that after an upgrade ?

The thread is posted isn't about avrtools It's about CPUs with missing instructions, see the bugreport posted in the 2nd link.

Ok, I was too quick reading the topics. The guy is complaining about a bad opcode, whereas in my case there is nothing really special happening (at least printing). On the alix, there is an AMD Geode processor, so I have to investigate if it could be the same issue.
Also, since *tiny* is having the same troubles with a CF, I am wondering if it is not coming somehow from here. Anyway, I'll play a bit around...
Thanks,

No a fresh install. Same procedure as half year ago. Install from existing Arch to a CF.
I downgraded packages in chroot environment, downgraded kernel, patched kernel with
NOPL emulation (worked but got stuck in endless printk() output).
My CPU is Geode LX.
