Kernel 2.6.34 and tty problems

Hi,

My first post, so please be kind wink

I have an NVIDIA 5500 based video adapter with the xf86-video-nouveau driver installed and Xorg-server 1.8.

After installing kernel26-2.6.34 the tty1 screen switches resolution to something strange after the 'Loading Modules' line. The 'something strange' seems to be about the 720x576 reported by fbset for 'mode'. IIRC this is somewhere near the size of a TV screen? So it seems I maybe have something related to http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=82363 this thread.

Can't see anything bad in dmesg, though there is a line saying Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 90x36 at the end of the [drm] stuff.

That's kind of annoying but livable with. The real pproblem is that Ctrl-Alt-Fn gives me a blank screen - no cursor no nothing. The keyboard still works though - I can log in and reboot 'blind'

If I switch back to the -nv driver the kernel still switches the framebuffer as above but the ttys all work as they should (with the 720x576 resolution). And since that driver doesnt do KMS I can set the video to 1280x1024 (the native LCD resolution) in the GRUB line.

Does this sound like a bug to be reported upstram, or have I forgotten do something to configure the new kernel?
