When switching to tty1 from running X, the input becomes very sluggish. However all other sesssions works just fine without and noticeable lag. Any idea what happening to tty1?

What do you mean by sluggish? Are you using slim as the login manager? Because slim seems to sometimes have a problem with swallowing input in tty1. There doesn't seem to be a solution to it except to not use slim or just not use tty1. (But this all depends on whether you use slim.) There were some forum topics about this odd slim behavior, but you gotta look hard to find them (which is why I haven't found them).

Yeah, I am using slim and as you say the input do not work very well for tty1. Thank you, now I know what is the cause.

Yeah, but isn't that what the slim-tty-slowness.patch is supposed to fix?

What version of slim are you running? If it's the one from the Repo then its's patched already. If you are running one from the AUR like "slim-cursor" which doesn't include this patch then that could be your issue.
In solving a problem of this sort, the grand thing is to be able to reason backward. That is a very useful accomplishment, and a very easy one, but people do not practice it much. In the everyday affairs of life it is more useful to reason forward, and so the other comes to be neglected. There are fifty who can reason synthetically for one who can reason analytically. --Sherlock Holmes

Well, I'm using slim 1.3.1-7 — but the problem doesn't seem to have gone away.
It is kind of annoying though.
