Re: HP Mini 311

hi!

I was also thinking about getting a netbook, and find myself in serious doubt about the 1201n and the hp mini 311. which one would you guys choose? which would be more compatible with arch (I don't want to stop using this distro ever!)?

I think the main difference between them is that the hp mini uses DDR3 RAM, which is faster, but the 1201n has a dual core intel ATOM 330 proccessor... the asus is a little bit more expensive, but still,it's better, isn't it?

it's a tough call buying a laptop nowadays... man.. there are so many options...

Re: HP Mini 311

it's as you said. 1201N has the dual core and a slightly larger screen. Is it worth the extra $100 to you?

Re: HP Mini 311

i have an hp pavilion dm1 1010el, a half way between a pavilion and a mini (11,6'' but not a netbook)
so far, this is the best computer where i installed arch smile audio and video are good, they stream hd videos via HDMI without any problem, wireless never drops, battery last 4 h 30 m (kinda) and in 8 months just lost a 3% overall... computer is fast and easy to configure!
the only problems are with cpu's governor tools, but that seems to be a celeron ulv missing driver/patch, so i just have to wait for that smile

definively worth buying smile
