Hi there!
I have a remote control from the Asus Eee Box, it is the
cat /proc/bus/input/devices
I: Bus=0003 Vendor=0471 Product=206c Version=0100
N: Name="PHILIPS MCE USB IR Receiver- Spinel plusf0r ASUS"
P: Phys=usb-0000:00:02.0-3/input0
S: Sysfs=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/usb2/2-3/2-3:1.0/input/input0
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=kbd mouse0 event0
B: EV=120017
B: KEY=c0000 40000000000 70000 58000 8001f84000c004 e0beffdf01cfffff fffffffffffffffe
B: REL=103
B: MSC=10
B: LED=1f
I followed http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LIRC#USB_devices .
When I run "irw" it only recognized some keys and displays wierd symbols, it does display something like this
irw
^[[C^[[D126^[
^[^[^[
so it doesnt work I assume (the control itself works in media players, but only some keys)
What should I do?
my /etc/lirc/lircd.conf is from /usr/share/lirc/remotes/mceusb/lircd.conf.mceusb
Someone suggested it could have to do something with th kdb handler, that the remote is interpreted as a keyboard?
Please help me, thank you!

When I run irw the logfile shows this:
Jul 9 09:38:12 echelon lircd: accepted new client on /var/run/lirc/lircd
Jul 9 09:38:12 echelon lircd: could not get file information for /dev/lirc0
Jul 9 09:38:12 echelon lircd: default_init(): No such file or directory
Jul 9 09:38:12 echelon lircd: WARNING: Failed to initialize hardware
Jul 9 09:38:17 echelon lircd: removed client
Maybe this can help?
