Vlc video unavailable after upgrade today(Solved)

Upgrade of vlc elements ffmpeg and libva caused loss of video in VLC.

Removed upgrade packages ffmpeg and libva .  Restored previous versions and video was restored.

Assume that both items need be addressed but that may not be necessary..perhaps only ffmpeg.

Same issue here. A method which fixes it for me is to change the video output method from "Default" to one of "X11 video output (XCB)" or "GLX video output (XCB)". GLX works more smoothly for me.

I think the issue is something to do with hardware acceleration, perhaps the xvideo extension. VLC chucks out a bunch of "Cannot put image: X11 error 11" messages when I turn debugging on.

I utilize abs to configure my VLC.

With the recent upgrades to libva and ffmpeg, the installed vlc1.1-0-2 version failed.  Thus, I re-installed the previous versions of the two packages to re-establish the installed vlc.  I then waited for the upgrade to be released in abs vlc PKGBUILD.

This occured yesterday and I rebuilt my VLC with that release which solved the difficulty.

still don't get it how you managed to screw vlc. if you use packages from repos works out of the box

you need:
libva 0.31.0_p13-2
ffmpeg 23619-4
vlc 1.1.0-3

My use of VLC is a little different than the standard download.

The standard download does not enable root.

vlc 1.1.2-2
