In my oppinion, Tiling is no Solution.
Some people call Tiling-WMs "awesome" and one of them is even named awesome (even if this one supports not just tiling).
When i look at tiling-wms for me it looks more like "They choosen Tiling beceause they dont really have a other choose. They are so minimal that they are forced to search for an alternative solution for a real panel even if its not the best one"
So for me Tiling is not good, its the only real way to do things in a very very very minimal WM so people say "Tiling is Cool" becease they dont have a choose. If they want a minimal, Tiling is the only solutions.
But if you´re more like "I have to do real work with my PC and dont play how to make it minimal as possible" there are better ways to manage the Windows.
Tiling is more like a nice feature you can combine with other like KWin does and thats all.

I don't think that a tiling wm has to be minimalistic, there are some people who combine a tiling wm with kde and have a pretty and comfortable desktop. Tiling is just a way to place windows and i think that for some people, tiling works fine and some other won't like it, because for them a floating wm is enough. So what is your point? That Tiling is not serious?

It's OK to post "Hey, I've used tiling WMs and they don't fit in my workflow and I really don't care how minimal they're - I need sth else. Can you point me in the right direction?". Is that what you meant?
