a somewhat related question: is obex-data-server being replaced by obexd-server and obexd-client? kbluetooth (which depends on obex-data-server) stopped working after the bluez update.

bluez update is broken. http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/20161 and your issue is not related to obexd update at all.
