Re: Flash Player 7 (non-libre), and alternative free inside

http://routty.dhis.org/pkgs/feitos/gnuf … pkg.tar.gz
i think that dhis is down so i will make a tar,bz with the pkg and PKGBUILD patches and source
and put it on archlinux INCOMING under the name gnuflash.tar.bz2
ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/incoming/gnuflash.tar.bz2
it conflicts with flashplugin and i had to remove the user install of the flashplugin it does work here and i tested with this url
http://www.swift-tools.net/Flash/ScreenSaver.swf

Is it a new version? Because if not, then it for sure doesn't support the newest flash standard. :-(

Re: Flash Player 7 (non-libre), and alternative free inside

Some time ago i made some modification to the 'gplflash' tarball, which makes it able to compile. get it here: http://home.tiscali.dk/tomasgc/flash-0.4.10x.tar.bz2

ATM i'm trying to make it use autoconf/automake, but since i've never tried it before, i'm having a few problems....

gplflash isn't all that usefull since it doesn't support compressed flash-animation (most new flash-animation are compressed), and it can't play sound compressed in mp3 correctly. I'm thinking about adding thoose features, since it should be relativly easy, "just" a few lib-calls...

Re: Flash Player 7 (non-libre), and alternative free inside

OK, GPLFlash now uses autoconf/automake, and it now support compressed swf-files. I wouldn't recommend using it with a browser since it will most likely crash it  sad  But the player (swfplayer) works ok.
The the source-code is here.
And the arch pkg+filelist+PKGBUILD is  here.

Perhaps i'll make a hompage to gather a new developpers... (anybody knows anything about moz-plugins?!?!?)

happy crashing wink

Re: Flash Player 7 (non-libre), and alternative free inside

just uploaded a new version of gplflash with a little change, it is now almost useable with mozilla, it's placed at the same place as earlier.
Hopefully next time i post here it will be with a URL to a new project page for gplflash smile

Re: Flash Player 7 (non-libre), and alternative free inside

hey man. yes it still has a crash [when I load an swf and just close the tab FireFox crashes]. but I can also play some swf. did you try the moz forums? btw take a look at this page: http://broadway.cs.nott.ac.uk/projects/SVG/flash2svg/
it's a bit old [2000] but still. of course SVG needs a good designer [just like Macromedia FLASH MX]

btw
I love you signature and I 10000000000% agree with you

Re: Flash Player 7 (non-libre), and alternative free inside

As promised i now have a project page for this: http://gplflash.sf.net. I have also made the first release: 0.4.11.
The "releases" i made in here, is to be regarded as beta-releases, since the "new" 0.4.11 fixes a few issues.
I have uploaded a gplflash.tar.bz2 to incoming with a pkg, PKGBUILD and filelist.
BTW, the plugin doesn't crash anymore

Re: Flash Player 7 (non-libre), and alternative free inside

happy to see it working. I'm gonna test the new one, and hope it won't crash
good luck with your  project. I see you've added support for compressed. wow!!

ps. you should really add version to the filename before uploading it to incoming, because you cannot overwrite it and when you have a new version you'll have some problems {you can then add and continue using versions}

Re: Flash Player 7 (non-libre), and alternative free inside

I have successfully used this version on shockwave, neopets, and macromedia's site without issue.

The browsers I used were:

Konqueror
Firefox
Opera
Mozilla

All browsers displayed the pages successfully and I never really noticed any crashes at all.

Excellent work.
