Hi,
I installed Arch Linux on my main computer. When I test my microphone in Skype I don't hear my voice, but when I activate the mic playback in the xfce mixer I can hear it but not via Skype. So the mic works. Here a few screenshots:
Xfce mixer:
Translations (Yeah, I'm german ):
Wiedergabe = Playback
Aufnahme = Capture
Hauptregler = Master
Line-Eingang = Line input
PicPanda|image-now
PicPanda|image-now
PicPanda|image-now
Skype:
Translations:
Mikrofon = microphone
Lautsprecher = speakers
Thanks in anticipation.

The connection has timed out
The server at www.picpanda.com is taking too long to respond.

I fixed it. Now there are two sources.

Isn't you microphone muted or disabled? Or does that red thing means it's recording?

No, when I activate it I can hear myself in the headset.

The mic is working but not in Skype. The button with the white X and the red color around it activates and deactivates the mic playback. I hope you know what mic playback is. I'm gonna explain it anyway. Mic playback is the option that enables you to hear everything what your mic at the moment records (in real time).
Sorry for my bad English, it's not my mother tongue.

Set mixer settings to oss and defaults in gstreamer-properties to alsa to get skype working.
You're using ALSA at the moment.
Or try this http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 62#p533862

Thanks. I finally hear my voice via Skype. The problem is that my voice is blurred so it sounds very deep and 'robotic'.

I suggest you lay out the booze ;-) Honestly, I don''t know. Last time I used Skype was on WinXp 4-5 years ago.
And open another thread / change the title of this one to reflect the current problems.

@ Jannes
It's a good idea to search the wiki and the forums before posting. I've solved dozens of problems I had no idea about just by googling / searching the forums. Use the name of your card, phrases like "skype voice", any error message you might get etc.

I searched and found nothing. Maybe it wasn't long enough or I used the wrong words.
