Serial wacom touchscreen very glitchy

I have a tablet with a serial wacom touchscreen.  It partially works: it tracks the pen just fine, but occasionally, the cursor will jump to another part of the screen and "click."  How can I solve this?

Okay so this is interesting.  This happens in XFCE but not fluxbox.  And something even more interesting: cellwriter functions fine in XFCE (besides the glitch), but in fluxbox, it only remembers one stoke per character.

Interesting!  This glitchiness only happens when I click on "enable extended input events" in cellwriter.  That fixes the one-stroke issue, but it starts the glitch.  I can't stop it until I restart xorg.

Ugh, touchscreens are so annoying.  I haven't made any headway on this.  Is there any command or logfile I should look at to find where this extra unwanted event is occurring from?

I sent an email to the cellwriter author, hopefully he can help.

Re: Serial wacom touchscreen very glitchy

Got nothing back.  Here is a video of the digitizer doing it's thing.  I pressed on the button on the side of the stylus after a few moments into the video to show how much it "taps" on the screen. I have it set so the button + tap = right click.  Notice how the cursor jumps about the screen too.
